Happy new year to all our customers past and present.
November and December were crazy months here at Fiddley Diddley. We had the open shop weekends in November which meant lots and lots of hours working to create our handmade pottery and gifts to sell in the shop.
Of course we offered our usual afternoon teas and refreshments which were very well received, and I had some lovely reviews on social media.
I decided not to open the shop in December as I wanted to concentrate on my Christmas workshops, and I also had lots of private classes, which I was really grateful to have had. My absolute favorite class had to be a private booking from a local textile group, a couple of villages away. A full studio of very clever ladies, who came for a Christmas crafternoon tea session, they each bought with them a handmade gift for secret Santa‘s sack, and my goodness when they were all opened there were some real beautiful, handmade treasures. I had the great pleasure of hosting this lovely Christmas party, and I was asked to judge a little competition that the ladies had all entered into. They had a pointed piece of wood, a little bit like a pyramid in shape which they had to make some thing creative out of, and nobody disappointed, there were some fabulous designs so much so I found it very very difficult to choose the top three.
Over four weeks I hosted many classes creating Christmas wreaths and Christmas flower arranging classes too. Christmas carols, hot, chocolate, and homemade plum bread and lots and lots of holly and spruce.
When I finished my last class on 20th of December I honestly sat and cried, I felt such a sense of achievement and overwhelming pride, a full year finished my first year doing craft workshops “ I did it” I said to myself and I loved every minute!
Over 18 months before I asked my husband Keith to put his faith in me, and go along with a crazy plan to ditch 28 years of touring the UK, going to large craft shows selling our unique ranges of pottery and wooden gifts.
It was a complete change of lifestyle, and to start a new business from scratch. I’m pleased to report he did have faith in me, he built me a beautiful studio and he helped me to have a try at this new venture. [which I feel has successfully paid off].
So with a full year behind me and our first birthday, coming up on 21st of January, I have lots of new exciting ideas for the studio, including new classes, flower arranging and needle felting and teaching how to make my pottery.
You can now book to take part in some brand new pottery making classes which I will teach from my little pottery workshop, and I hope to expand my love of catering, with my new monthly themed afternoon tea delivery boxes and some open weekends where my visitors can come and enjoy both my monthly themed studio and afternoon tea experience, watch this space!
Make sure you subscribe to receive my monthly newsletter and I will keep you updated as to what I am up to and what’s in store here at Fiddley Diddley!
I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and we have lots to look forward to with this bright shiny new year.
I wish you all the very best.
I look forward to welcoming you to my little studio on the Lincolnshire coast.
Happy new year.
Love, Lindsey X.
